Eriksen, Casper Tied for 4th at ASC Championships
April 30, 2012
Round 3 Tee Times "Brayden played great. He struck the ball with a lot of confidence and had the flat stick working," UVU men's golf coach Chris Curran said. "Brayden has stepped up his game at the right time." Eriksen had two birdies and a two bogeys on the front nine before recording four birdies and a double-bogey on the back en route to the 70. Casper opened the second round with a double-bogey seven on the first hole, and battled back to even par for the round with a pair of birdies before back-to-back bogeys and a birdie to end the front nine at 1-over. On the back, he had three birdies and three bogeys. "Mason's round was a bit of a roller coaster, but he continued to battle all day long," Curran said. Eriksen and Casper are also tied for the lone individual regional spot. The highest finisher not associated with the winning team, which earns an automatic spot to regionals, receives the bid. Stratton Schulz, who shot 11-over on the first day, was seven shots better for a 76 to move up into a tie for 32rd, while Joey Olson shot his second consecutive 82, while Michael Dart finished with an 82, two shots better than Sunday. Sacramento State, which had four players in the top four including leader Cameron Rappleye,(-2) holds a 29-shot lead over second-place Houston Baptist (606). University of Hartford (606) and UVU, which was tied for fifth after Day 1, is fourth (615). "They are predicting rain so it could be interesting," Curran said. The final round gets underway at 8 a.m. and can be followed live at golfstat.com.
