COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - Utah Valley State finished the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational in 12th place overall and Nic van Vuuren and Andrew Smith ended up in the top-20 Sunday at Eisenhower Golf Club-Blue Course.
Van Vuuren was 2-under for the tournament (214) and ended up tied for 10th. Smith finished even par at 216 and tied for 18th.
Jeff Gibson shot a 224 (8-over) and tied for 61st, Dustin Robinson was 225 (9-over) and finished tied for 67th, and Chris Cole ended the weekend with a 235 (19-over).
The Wolverines were 13-over (877) as a team. Xavier ran away with the tournament finishing 19-under, nine shots in front Colorado State.
UV will be close to home next weekend competing in the Purple and Red Invitational September 18-19 in Layton, Utah. The tournament will be held at Valley View Golf Course.
