Palm Desert, Calif. -- Utah Valley golfer Noah Cook shot 1-over 73 to move into a tie for 10th at +2 overall at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at the Classic Club on Tuesday.

Cook's first career top-10 finish came in just the second collegiate tournament for the freshman. It's also the highest individual finish this year for a Wolverine golfer.

As a team, UVU started the day in 10th and moved into a ninth-place finish after a 54-hole score of 896 (303, 290, 303), three shots in front of UCSB, UTEP and Weber State.

The Wolverines started the day with the tournament lead in birdies and finished tied for second with 48. Utah Valley led the tournament in par-3 scoring, playing those holes at -2.

Cody Anderson shot 4-over 76 on Tuesday and finished tied for 43rd at +10. Andrew Carlin finished +11 and tied for 50th. Both Dane Christensen (t-53) and Jeff Holmes (t-61) shot 5-over 77 on Tuesday.

Gabe Maier from tournament-host Wyoming won medalist honors by three shots over Scott Travers while Santa Clara won the team title by four shots over Cal State Northridge.

Utah Valley will now compete in the Utah Collegiate Shootout in St. George on Oct. 17.
