Saratoga Springs, UT- The Utah Valley State men's golf team defeated Idaho State in an 18-hole dual meet on Monday at Talons Cove golf course. Nic van Vuuren won the event by shooting a three under par 69. Teammate Jeff Gibson shot a two-under par 70 to earn second place.
As a team the Wolverines shot a two over par 290. Considering the majority of the match was played in heavy wind and rain storms, Utah Valley coach Tommy Johnson was pleased with how his team performed.
"The conditions were difficult," Johnson said. "For the guys to battle the way they did in a windy rainstorm, I was pleased. The guys have been working hard. We have been around par for our team totals all year."
Utah Valley's Tyler Weight finished third in the event by shooting a 73. Idaho State's top finisher was Kyle Prolo. Prolo shot a 74, good for fourth place.
The Wolverines are back in action next Monday when they compete at the Santa Clara tournament.
