SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - The Utah Valley men's golf team is in ninth place after two rounds at the Bill Cullum Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club with 18 holes remaining.

Nick Nelson and Jeff Holmes are both in the top 30 after both shooting even par 72 in the second round. Nelson is tied for 26th at +1 for the tournament while Holmes is tied for 29th and 2-over-par.

As a team the Wolverines followed up an opening round 306 by improving 12 shots to 294 in the second round, a total score of 600. All five UVU golfers improved on their first round scores as the team sits five shots back of Portland.

Host Cal State Northridge (560) has a six shot lead over Long Beach State (566) with the final round beginning Tuesday morning.
