The Utah Valley State golf team-s 2004-2005 season will come to a close April 22-23, as it competes in the Ping Cougar Classic hosted by in-state rival, Brigham Young University. The 54-hole tournament will be played at Riverside Country Club in Provo.
-This is the tournament we-ve been looking forward to all year,- said Head Golf Coach, Tommy Johnson. -This will be the best field we-ve seen, and it will give us a chance to see where we stack up.-
Nic van Vuuren continues to lead the Wolverines in scoring, averaging a 72.9 per round. Johnson will depend on van Vuuren to lead the Wolverines this weekend. Competing along side van Vuuren in the Cougar Classic will be Cody Powers (74.2), Tadd Cox (74.8), Milo Lines (75.4), and Jeff Gibson (75.7).
The BYU Cougars will host a field of 19 teams, including every Division I
golf program in the state of Utah and two-time defending Cougar Classic
champion No. 64 Colorado State.
The 19-team field includes: BYU, UC Davis, San Diego State, Colorado State, Denver, Fresno State, Nevada,
Northern Colorado, Hawaii, Utah, Southern Utah,
UTEP, Weber State, Boise State, Wyoming, Air
Force, Ferris State, Utah State, and Utah Valley State.
