SPRINGVILLE -- One week after finishing second and being the low amateur at the Provo Open, Utah Valley University's Mason Casper fired back-to-back rounds of 64 to win his hometown's 44th Art City Amateur at Hobble Creek Sunday.

Casper's two-day total of 128 broke Jeff Green's tournament record by three shots, and it was good for a eight-shot win over BYU's Mike Jurca.

"I knew at the turn I had this," Casper told the Deseret News.

Casper, who graduated from Springville High School, is the first local to win the tournament since Ron Hitchcock in 1989.
