UVU Golf Teams on Both Coasts This Week

OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University men's and women's golf teams will be on opposite ends of the country when the two teams tee it up this weekend. The men's team will be in Southern Carolina for the Kiawah Classic hosted by Charleston Southern University Sunday through Tuesday, while the women's team will be in California for the Mustang Invitational hosted by the Cal Poly Monday and Tuesday. Along with UVU and host Cal Poly, CSU Bakersfield, Cal State Northridge, UC Riverside, Idaho State, Santa Clara, Northern Arizona, Weber State, Southern Utah, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Monterey Bay, Point Loma Nazarene, Sonoma State, Seattle, Dixie State and Gonzaga will compete in the event being contested at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande. The men will compete at Turtle Point Golf Course along with Charleston Southern, Boise State, Bradley, Butler, Campbell, College of Charleston, Connecticut, Francis Marion, George Washington, High Point, Jacksonville State, Loyola of Maryland, Marquette, Mount St. Mary's, Presbyterian,, Radford, South Carolina, St. John's, Stetson, Towson, USC Upstate, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, Winthrop and Wisconsin. In South Carolina, tee times will go from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., ET all off of No. 1 tee beginning Sunday, while in California, Round 1 is set for Monday with 9 a.m. PT start from the first and 10th tees. Mason Casper leads the Wolverines in scoring average at 71.78, followed by Corey Eccles (74.64), Stratton Schulz (75.44), Joey Olson (76.08), Brayden Eriksen (78.08) and Preston Richards (78.17).
On the women's side, Lynn-Marie Nagel leads the Wolverines in scoring average at 75.45 followed by Jordyn Dougal (76.27), Hannah Herman (79.27), Brooke Bliss (79.36) and Cassandra Lesa (80.00). The men's team enters the tournament after finishing 12th at the Lone State Invitational in San Antonio two weeks ago, while the women's team placed 12th at the Price's Give 'Em Five two weeks ago.
