OREM, Utah - Utah Valley University women's basketball coach Cathy Nixon announced Tuesday that she has signed Sarah Clement to play basketball for her for the 2012-13 season.

Clement recently finished her stellar four-year volleyball career at UVU and graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics in April but has opted to stay in Orem and continue her education and use her final year of eligibility to play women's basketball.

The Lindon, Utah native is the reigning Great West Conference Volleyball Player of the Year after she led the league in hitting percentage (.311) and total blocks (134), finished tied for second in block per set average (1.18), and helped her team to its first-ever GWC title and a school record 23 victories this past season.

Besides excelling on the volleyball court in high school, Clement was also team captain in basketball for the Pleasant Grove Vikings. The PGHS product is 6-2 and will play center for the Wolverines.
