OREM, Utah - The Utah Valley State women's basketball team won't garner as many frequent flyer miles this winter as it did last year. After playing just nine games at home in 2004-05, including three at the end of the year in the Division-I Independent Tournament, the Wolverines will host 16 games in 2005-06.

"Having home games will be a refreshing thing for us," said head coach Cathy Nixon. "We still have to face some very tough competition at home, but we are grateful to be on our home court a little more often than last year."

The team will open with two exhibition games at home before the regular season opener on November 18th against Jacksonville State in Orem. Air Force, Fresno State (an WNIT team last year) and Westminster round out the first four games of 2005, all at home.

Highlights of the 2005-06 schedule include in-state games with four Division-I schools. The Wolverines will travel to Logan to take on Utah State on December 10th, followed by games at BYU on December 17th and at Southern Utah on the 20th of December. The fourth in-state D-I game will be at home against Weber State on January 7th.

The Wolverines will host Gonzaga on December 30th for the final game of the calendar year.

A January road trip to Southern California will be welcomed in the dead of Utah's winter. Utah Valley State willl take on Cal State Fullerton on January 26th and UC-Riverside on January 28th.

Independent rival Northern Colorado, in its final year of Independent play before moving to the Big Sky Conference, will face the Wolverines twice. First in Greeley, Colorado on February 11th and in Orem on February 21st.

Division-I Independent Champion and WNIT squad Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be in Orem on February 16th. Senior night will take place February 24th against North Dakota State.

The final two games of 2005-06 will be against two more Indpendents; at IPFW on March 1st and at Texas-Pan American on March 4th. In all the Wolverines will play seven games against current D-I Independent Schools.
