LAYTON, Utah -- The Utah Valley University women's golf team opened the season Friday with a third-place finish at the Wildcat Invitational contested at Davis Park Golf Course.

The Wolverines shot a team total 305 to finish 12 shots back of tournament winner Weber State University. Southern Utah University finished second at 299.

Sophomore Lynn-Marie Nagel finished in a tie for third with a 3-over-par 73, while senior Jordyn Dougal finished in a tie for sixth with a 4-over-par 74 and freshman Cassandra Lesa placed in a tie for eighth with a 5-over-par 75.

Nagel had four of UVU's 10 birdies on the day.

UVU's Hannah Herman finished 11th (76); Heather Mathison and Kalea Heu tied for 19th (79), while Brooke Bliss finished 27th with an 83 and Morgan Workman tied for 31st with an 85.

Weber State's Kelsey Chugg won the tournament with a 1-over-par 71 on the 5,979-yard course.

The Wolverines are back in action Monday at Tuesday at the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman, Mont.
