Mathison & Yeates post top-5 finishes at Mary Lou Baker Open

SPANISH FORK, Utah - Heather Mathison and Monica Yeates led a contingent of Utah Valley University golfers that participated at the Spanish Oaks Golf Course over the weekend as they placed fourth and fifth, respectively, at the 2014 Mary Lou Baker Open.

Mathis finished the 36-hole tournament with a 9-over par 153 while Yeates was one stroke back of her with a 154 (+10). Mathis earned the fourth-place finish after recording three birdies on Saturday en route to a final-round 72 (even par). Yeates on the other hand posted two birdies apiece in her pair of rounds as she tallied a 76 on Friday and a 78 on Saturday.

Head coach Sue Nyhus also had a big tournament as she won the Senior Flight and placed sixth overall at 11-over par (155). Kalea Heu (+16) and Kimberly Nyhus (+17) too posted strong showings as they took 11th and 12th, respectively.

Hannah Herman (169) as well as a pair of Wolverine newcomers -- Sabrina Naulu (163) and Carly Dehlin (190) -- also competed at the tournament and placed 21st, 16th and 33rd, respectively.
