OREM, Utah - Utah Valley State head women-s golf coach Denise Larson signed three golfers to letters of intent for the 2005-2006 golf season. Ashley Baldwin, Whitney Drumright, and Shari Johnson become the first three signees in the history of Wolverine women-s golf.
-I-m glad to have brought in three quality golfers that have both high school and college experience,- said Larson. -I look forward to working with them and molding them into the type of golfer we want at Utah Valley State.-
Baldwin played golf and basketball at Westminster College last season before transferring to Utah Valley State. She was a First Team All-Region and Second Team All-Conference selection for the Griffins. She lettered in golf, basketball, and volleyball at Skyline High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was a three-time District Champion in golf.
Drumright played at Wagner College in Staten Island, New York last season. She finished third in the NEC Conference Championship. Drumright finished second in the Lehigh tournament and had a -hole in one- at Bethpage. She prepped at Granite Hills High School in Porterville, California. She finished first in Valley from 2002-2004 and second in Regionals in 2004.
Johnson brings an athletic resume to Utah Valley State as she lettered in golf, softball, hockey, and basketball at Magrath High School in Magrath, Alberta. She has finished 13th in Province her senior year and helped her high school softball and basketball teams finish third in Province.
The Utah Valley State women-s golf team opens its season at the NAU Mountain Shootout in Flagstaff, Arizona September 18-20.
