UVU Golf Teams Close Out Fall Slate in Hawaii

OREM -- The Utah Valley University men's and women's golf teams will close out the fall season with tournaments in Hawaii. The men tee off Sunday at the Fourth Annual Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, while the women tee of Tuesday at the inaugural Rainbow Wahine Invitational. The University of Hawaii is hosting both tournaments. Along with the Hawaii, the Wolverine men will compete against the College of Charleston, North Dakota State, San Diego and Seattle in the three-day tournament at the par-72, 6,954-yard Puakea Golf Course. Mason Casper, who won the Battle in the Tetons in early September, leads the Wolverines in scoring average at 70.83, while Joey Olson and Stratton Schulz are at 74.0 and Brayden Eriksen is at 74.33. As a team, the Wolverines are ranked fifth in the nation in eagles (9) and 68th in scoring at 291.17 strokes per tournament. The Wolverines also rank 17th in fairways hit and 26th in greens in regulation. In their four previous tournaments, the Wolverines won the Battle in the Tetons and finished second at the Palouse Collegiate and Firestone Grill Invitational. The Wolverine women's team tee up Tuesday at its two-day event with BYU, Cal State Fullerton, Florida International, Hawai'i, Mercer, Rutgers, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington at the par-72, 6,140-yard Kapolei Golf Course. Freshman Lynn-Mari'e Nagel leads the Wolverines in scoring average at 78.44, while freshman Haley Dunn is at 79.89. Sophomore Celeste Gish and junior Jordyn Dougal are at 80.33 and 81.0, respectively.
