Women's soccer opens preseason with pair of exhibitions Saturday night

Saturday will feature both of Wolverine soccer's preseason traditions: the Green & White Game and the Alumni Game.

Rachelle Dixon enters her fifth year as an assistant coach at Utah Valley in 2010 after helping the Wolverines to the Great West Conference West Division and Tournament Championships in 2009.

Dixon finished her collegiate playing career at Utah State where she played in 17 games, starting 16 in 2005. She originally started her collegiate career at BYU where she competed for the Cougars from 1999-2001 and 2004. During that stretch the Cougars advanced to the round of 32 twice and the Sweet 16 once.

In 2004, she competed against Italy's Under-19 women's national team and in 2001, she played against South Africa's women's national team. She has also competed in international competition in England and France.

Before college, Dixon played club soccer with team Devasation which won regionals and advanced to nationals in November of 1999.

She currently holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" coaching license and has been asked to be on the state ODP coaching staff. In her final year at Utah State she did a coaching internship with the Aggie coaching staff where she provided individual training with goal keepers.

Dixon also served an LDS Church mission to Johannesburg, South Africa from June of 2002 to December 2003. She graduated from BYU in 2006 with a degree in Health Education. When Dixon is not coaching she enjoys snowboarding, biking, rock climbing and competing in various other sporting activities.

Dixon is a native of Bountiful, Utah. She graduated in 1999 from Bountiful High School where she earned All-State honors in soccer and basketball.
