Big Second Half Beats UV
Oct. 7, 2007
LAS VEGAS - After an even first half in which Utah Valley and UNLV played to a 0-0 draw throughout most of the period, the rebels exploded for five goals over the final 46 minutes to cruise to a 5-0 win over the Wolverines. "We had a great first half," UV head coach Brent Anderson said. "We played as a team, executed our game plan and converted most of our passes." The two teams played scoreless soccer over nearly the first 44 minutes. In the 44th minute, the Rebels' Kristin Shim dribbled through the defense and fired a shot that found the net inside the left post to put UNLV ahead, 1-0 at the break. The Rebels fired six shots on goal to the Wolverines one in the first period as possession was evenly divided. "After UNLV's first goal of the second half, we started to press a little and they were able to get a few more." The Rebels scored six minutes into the second half when Ashly O'Harrow took a pass from Brianna Moore from the middle of the box and found the net. UNLV added three more goals in the second half while Utah Valley fired two second-half shots on goal. The Wolverines were led by Lauren Bluth's two shots on goal. Mallory Schott recorded 13 saves for the Wolverines in the loss. Utah Valley will return to action next week when the Wolverines head to the Dakotas for matches against former United Soccer Conference opponents North Dakota State and South Dakota State on Oct. 12 and 14, respectively.
