DOVER, Delaware - Utah Valley soccer suffered a rare setback in Great West Conference play, losing 2-1 at Delaware State on Thursday. It's just the program's second conference loss in the Great West's third season of existence.

After a goal in the 22nd minute by Chelsea Boursiquot put DSU in front, the Wolverines (8-8-1, 3-1) got a game-tying goal from senior Kaitlyn Thomas in the 73rd minute that was assisted by Natalie Young.

The match was tied for only 54 seconds though as Candace Wyre scored the game-winner to give the Hornets their first-ever GWC win.

Utah Valley out-shot Delaware State 13-8 overall and 10-5 on goal but Hornet keeper Katelyn Kozlosky came up with nine saves to help her team to victory.

With two games left in the regular season, the Wolverines now face NJIT on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET/9 a.m. MT in their final road game. UVU is now in second place in the Great West behind South Carolina State, which sits at 3-0-1 with a game next week at Houston Baptist before the season finale on Oct. 29 in Orem.
