CEDAR CITY, Utah - In a physical, tight battle, Southern Utah picked up a goal early in the second half to beat Utah Valley 1-0 in the two teams second head-to-head match this season.

The win by the Thunderbirds was their first over the Wolverines in five tries.

"It was a physical game," UV head coach Brent Anderson said. "We kind of lost our rhythm in the first half. In the second half we didn't take advantage of the opportunities we created."

Mallory Schott recorded eight saves for Utah Valley in the loss while Adrienne Schneider and Andi Bagdan each recorded shots on goal.

The Wolverines out-shot SUU in the second half 8-6 and got both of their shots on goal in the second frame. UV's best scoring opportunity was late in the game when Schneider fired a shot that hit off the cross bar.

The Wolverines will return to action next week when they travel to Eastern Washington to take on the Eagles next Sunday.
