OREM, Utah - Utah Valley women's soccer dropped the final home game of its 2008 season in a defensive battle, 1-0, to Seattle University on Monday.

The Wolverines (10-6-1, 5-0-0) and Redhawks (9-4-3) combined for just six shots on goal on the day, with UVU finishing with a season low two shots on goal.

The lone goal on the day came in the 67th minute when Pfeiffer Bloecker took a pass from M'ily Reiter and scored on a breakaway into the lower left corner.

Mallory Schott, playing her final home game after four seasons at Utah Valley, finished with three saves. Shantae Adams-Yeats and Brianne Larsen were the two Wolverines to attempt shots on goal.

Utah Valley can now focus on NJIT, its opening round opponent in Saturday's United Soccer Conference tournament opener at 2:30 p.m. MT in Farmville, Virginia. The Wolverines defeated the Highlanders 2-1 earlier in the season at NJIT.

"Seattle played very well today. They came out with a lot of energy and it was hard for the girls to match that. It is disappointing but we have to look past this now and focus on the tournament," said UVU head coach Brent Anderson. "NJIT is a very competitive team. They've got some good athletes and they're well coached. We've got to put a good game together to come out and beat them. The girls are very excited for this tournament and for the chance to prove themselves."

The winner of the game against NJIT will play in Monday's championship game at 3:30 p.m. against either host Longwood or Howard.

The Wolverines are the top seed entering the tournament by virtue of their 5-0-0 record. UVU outscored its conference opponents by a 15-to-1 margin during the seaeon and enter the tournament on the 10-game conference winning streak.
