Box Score

OREM, Utah - Jenni Clough scored two goals and Adrienne Schneider added a goal and two assists as Utah Valley cruised past NJIT, 3-0, to clinch a spot in the United Soccer Conference Tournament finals.

The win in USC tourney semifinal action earned a spot in Sunday's tournament final against Longwood University, which defeated Howard, 3-0 earlier in the day.

"NJIT has been playing very well lately so this is a good win for us," Utah Valley head soccer coach Brent Anderson said. "I thought the girls came out and played well today."

The Wolverines controlled the game, firing 31 shots to NJIT's eight. UV had 12 shots on goal to the Highlanders five.

After a even start to the game, Utah Valley got on the scoreboard first in the 22nd minute when Schneider gathered a loose ball with a man on her and fired a shot from 18 yards out that bended into the top-right corner of the net. The goal ended up being the game winner as the Wolverines shut out the Highlanders.

Just four minutes later, Schneider sent a ball from the right side across the field to Clough who muscled a left-footed shot with a defender draped on her that bent into the goal.

UV took the 2-0 lead to the halftime break. The Wolverines out-shot NJIT 16-4 in the first stanza and recorded four corner kicks while the Highlanders didn't have a corner.

In under nine minutes into the second half, the Schneider-to-Clough combination found the net again. Schneider sent a nice pass in from the midfield and Clough used some nifty footwork to get into the box and fire the shot under NJIT's keeper's grasp. The goal gave Clough seven for the season which is tops among USC players.

The goalkeeping tandem of Mallory Schott and Hailey Brown combined for the shutout as Schott recorded three saves while Brown stopped two.

The Utah Valley-Longwood USC tournament final is slated for Sunday at noon.
