UVU Soccer Honored for Academic Success

OREM, Utah -- After winning both the Great West Conference regular season and tournament titles in the fall, the Utah Valley University soccer team has also been recognized for its off-the-field achievements. UVU has received the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for 2011 while six individuals were named to the 2011 NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-West Region team. "I appreciate that the NSCAA has recognized our program with these great awards and I am very proud of the team for their commitment to their academics," head coach Brent Anderson said. "It is a great honor and I feel that it speaks very highly about the caliber of our student-athletes as well as Utah Valley University's academic support services and personnel." Natalie Young, the 2011 GWC Offensive Player and Newcomer of the Year, received second team honors while Brianne Larsen Bastian, Jaime Lyons and Regan Benson were named to the third team. Kelsey Kimball Cook and Camille Broderick both received honorable mention. The Wolverines received the team award based on the team's overall GPA.
