OREM, Utah - Utah Valley's Shantae Adams and NJIT's Sadie Mele have been named as the United Soccer Conference's Player and Goalie of the Week for games played last weekend. It is the first weekly honor earned by both players.

"I feel that it is a great honor for Shantae and one that she deserves," UV head coach Brent Anderson said. "She has been working very hard this season and it was great to see her perseverence rewarded with those two goals."

Adams, a junior from Orem, Utah, scored her first two goals of the season against Long Island, Sunday afternoon. Her first goal came in the 16th minute and was unassisted as she fired a shot from 28 feet out. Less than five minutes later, she connected again off an assist from teammate Katey Turner. The two goals gave the Wolverines a 2-0 lead early in the game.

Mele, a freshman from Rio Rancho, N.M., had another stellar week in goal for the Highlanders. Mele allowed just three goals in two games, giving her team a chance to win. Against Albany Mele gave another solid performance including a one-on-one breakaway stop by on Boring with just under eight minutes left in the first half.

In NJIT's second game against Quinnipiac Mele tallied 12 saves on 13 shots by the Bobcats. Mele finished the week with 17 saves and a 1.33 goals against average.

With her performance last week, Mele now currently leads the USC in goals against average (1.23) and save percenatage (.862) while ranking second in the league in saves (25).
