OREM, Utah - Utah Valley's Katey Turner and NJIT's Sadie Mele have been named as the United Soccer Conference's Player and Goalie of the Week for games played last weekend.

It is the first weekly honor earned by Turner and the second in a row earned by Mele.

Turner, a freshman from Huntsville, Utah, scored her first goal of the season against Wyoming, Friday afternoon. The goal came in the first half and was unassisted as she gathered a loose ball and found the goal from the right angle. The goal tied the Wolverines game at 2-2 in the first half.

Mele, a freshman from Rio Rancho, N.M., had another stellar week in goal for the Highlanders. Mele allowed just one goal in a 1-0 loss to Iona, giving her team a chance to win. The only goal of the game came by Iona's Rachel Bucolo where she carried into the box and her hard ground ball shot from 15 yards away beat diving Highlander goalkeeper Sadie Mele at 56:46.

Mele made six saves in the NJIT goal. For the season, Mele has 31 saves with a (1.18 GAA) and (.861 saving percentage). Mele leads the USC in GAA and save percentage while ranking second in saves.
