Clifford Named GWC Player of the Week

OREM, Utah - As Utah Valley prepares to head to the East Coast for its final road trip of the 2011 regular season, the Great West Conference announced that Regan Clifford was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Clifford scored four goals in a 2-0-1 week for the Wolverines. She had a two-goal effort against Southern Utah before scoring the game-winning goal in consecutive wins over Howard and Houston Baptist in conference play. She scored in the second overtime to defeat Howard 2-1 and also had the decisive goal in the 67th minute in a 3-1 win over 2010 GWC Champion HBU. The Wolverines are an unbeaten 5-0-1 in their last six contests and embark on a trip to New Jersey and Delaware that has them playing three games in five days starting Tuesday at Ivy League Princeton at 5 p.m. MT. Tuesday's match is the final non-conference game of the year and precedes GWC contests at Delaware State on Thursday at 5 p.m. MT and at NJIT at 9 a.m. MT. Princeton, 4-8-1 overall, enters the match on a three-game win streak while Delaware State is 1-13-2 and 0-3-1 in the Great West. NJIT is 2-12-0 overall and 1-1-0 and will also host Howard on Thursday. NJIT is the host for the 2011 GWC Tournament which begins Nov. 4 in Newark.
