DENVER -- For the second consecutive week, Utah Valley University senior pitcher Josi Summers has been named the Western Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week. The senior claimed the honor by virtue of a no-hitter against Albany -- the first of her career and the first thrown in the WAC this season.

Summers went 2-0 over Utah Valley's final four games at the Rebel Spring Games in Winter Haven, Fla., appearing in three and throwing 17.0 combined innings. She went the distance in both of her starts and threw 3.0 innings in the Games' finale against Howard.

During that span, Summers posted a 0.41 ERA to go along with 16 strikeouts while allowing only nine hits and one earned run. In completing the no-hitter against Albany, Summers struck out eight batters -- matching a UVU season-high to this point in the season.

Last week, the senior from Tremonton, Utah, earned the same honor after going 2-0 with a 0.55 ERA in the Wolverines' first four games of the Rebel Spring Games. As such, Summers departed Winter Haven with a 4-0 record and 0.47 ERA in 29.2 innings pitched. She struck out 27 batters over her five appearances on the week, allowing 17 hits and only two earned runs. As a team, UVU went 7-1 at the Rebel Spring Games.

Kansas City's Cinda Ramos claimed the WAC's Hitter of the Week award after batting .600 with a home run and six RBI in four games last week. She edged out UVU's Brianna Gatlin, who was also nominated for the honor after hitting .500 with two doubles and six RBI last week.

Summers and the rest of the Wolverines will be looking to continue their recent run of success with four games this week. UVU plays a pair of doubleheaders against in-state foes, hosting Utah State at 1/3p.m. MT on Tuesday before traveling to Ogden to face Weber State at 2/4p.m. on Wednesday.
