OREM, Utah -- Utah Valley University wraps up a stretch of six straight games on the road when it makes the short trip north to Salt Lake City to face Utah in a Monday doubleheader. The twin bill gets underway at 5 p.m. MT at the recently completed Utah Softball Stadium.

The Wolverines (13-31, 5-7 WAC) will be looking to exact some revenge as they suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of the Utes (20-20, 5-12 Pac-12) last Monday in Orem. Utah Valley recorded a combined 14 hits over those two ballgames, but could manufacture just three runs, ending up on the wrong side of 6-2 and 8-1 scorelines.

Utes too much for Wolverines in doubleheader sweep
Utah Valley University dropped an afternoon doubleheader to the University of Utah on Monday, falling 6-2 and 8-1.

UVU is coming off a three-game, WAC series at Kansas City, falling two games to one. After taking the opener 6-4, the Wolverines went down 5-1 and 3-2 after a pair of stellar Kangaroo pitching performances. Amanda Robinson went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the game one win, giving her a team-high six homers -- three of which came over two games last week.

Meanwhile, Utah took two of three games from Pac-12 foe Stanford, winning the first two contests before dropping a 12-11 decision in the finale. The Utes own a team batting average of .307 on the season, led by Kate Dickman's .417 average. The junior has 30 RBI so far, second only to Bridget Castro's 31. Castro is tied for the team lead with five home runs to go along with her .313 batting average.

The Wolverines were on hand for the first-ever game played at the Utah Softball Stadium when it faced the Utes in March of last season. Powered by a 2-for-3, two-RBI performance from Robinson, UVU picked up a 4-1 victory -- their first-ever in Salt Lake City.

Utah Valley returns to Wolverine Field for its final homestand when it hosts Southern Utah in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday. From there, the Wolverines wrap up WAC play with a three-game set against New Mexico State.
