Orem, UT- The Utah Valley softball team was well-represented on the 2007 All-Independent team. Cheryl McGraw, Heidi Boyer and Cari Hamilton earned First Team All-Independent honors while Corie Jensen and Jamie Tonis received Second Team All-Independent accolades.

McGraw, Jensen, Tonis and Jasmine Joyce were all named to the All-Newcomer team.

Boyer led the Wolverines offensively with a .389 average, 11 homeruns, 41 RBIs and 15 doubles. The 11 homeruns and 41 RBIs are single season school records while the .389 average was the third best in school history.

As a freshman, McGraw stepped in and had six homeruns, 33 RBIs and was thief on the bases paths as she was a perfect 11-for-11 stealing bases. She was also a very hard out, as she struck out only six times in 161 at bats.

Hamilton finished her senior season at Utah Valley with a .308 average while starting all 52 games. She had 45 hits and walked a school record 27 times this season.

Tonis hit .300 with three homeruns and 22 RBIs in her first year at Utah Valley State. She was second on the team in doubles with 12 and was named to the Saint Mary's Invitational All-Tournament team.

Joyce hit .301 with four homeruns and 20 RBIs in her junior year at Utah Valley. In a win over Northwest Nazarene she hit for the cycle.

For the second straight year, Longwood's Ryan Washington was named Independent Player of the Year. North Dakota State took home the Pitcher of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Coach of the Year Awards.

The Division I All-Independent Softball Team was selected by a vote of coaches and sports information directors from schools that compete as D-1 Independents.
