Softball reaches out to local police and fire departments on 9/11

OREM, Utah -- The Utah Valley University softball team delivered cookies to local police stations and fire departments Wednesday as an expression of gratitude for their work and service to the Utah Valley community. It also served as a way to recognize and remember the sacrifice of those who gave their lives on the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.

UVU softball visited four local stations, including the UVU Police Department and the Orem City Fire Department and left behind a box of cookies as a token of appreciation.

"We just wanted to go out and let them know that we appreciate what they do," said junior pitcher Josi Summers. "Making cookies was just a simple way to say thanks for their service and commitment to our community."
