Orem, UT- Utah Valley State softball coach Todd Fairbourne has signed Abby Bowcutt and Kristin Lane to letters of intent. Both players are high school seniors this year and will join the Wolverines for the 2008 season.

Bowcutt hails from Mountain Crest High School where she earned All-State honors in 2005 and 2006 and All-Region honors 2004-06. She plays pitcher and shortstop for Mountain Crest and has started every game since her freshman season.

"Bowcutt brings speed, intensity and versatility to the team," Fairbourne said. "She can play any position. She is a very intense competitor and she demands a lot of herself."

Lane is from Walnut, California and guided her team to a 20-2 finish her junior while playing second and third base. Her team won the league championship in 2005-06 and also was the 2005 Triple Crown national champions.

"Lanes brings a physical nature to the team," Fairbourne said. "She is very strong and is physically what we need to compete with other teams. She is a vocal player. I expect her to bring a high level of expectations to the program."
