Volleyball Sweeps Past Weber State in Home Opener
The Utah Valley University volleyball team got solid production from sophomore McKenna Tait and senior Erica Nish as it swept Weber State (25-20, 25-12, 25-17) Tuesday night at the PE Building. The match was UVU's 2012 home opener.

The matchup will be Utah Valley's third overall and second straight against an in-state foe this season as the Wolverines fell to Utah in the finale of the Wolverine Classic last Saturday. The Wolverines dropped the contest to the Pac-12 Utes in four sets, 19-25, 21-25, 29-27, 15-25.

UVU (2-8) will be looking to get back on track on Tuesday after being on the wrong end of the scoreboard in its last five matches. The Wolverines went winless against the Utes, Idaho State, and UC Irvine last weekend and also dropped matches to Arizona and Butler the previous week.

Senior setter Brookelyn Hall and sophomore middle blocker Lauren Stringham led UVU over the weekend as they were both named to the Wolverine Classic All-Tournament Team. Hall not only dished out a team-high 122 assists (9.38 assist/set average) at the Classic but also added 28 digs, 10 kills, four blocks and two aces. Stringham also earned all-tournament accolades after leading the Wolverines with 10 blocks (0.77 block/set average) and a .379 attack percentage. The sophomore middle blocker also added 28 kills and a 2.15 kill per set average.

Freshman outside hitter Macky Treanor leads UVU offensively on the season with a 3.69 kill per set average and a .278 hitting percentage. Her 3.69 kill per set average is good enough for second in the Western Athletic Conference. Stringham and senior middle blocker Katie Fritzler lead the Wolverines at the net as the duo has combined for 62 blocks. Stringham leads the way with 34 while Fritzler has recorded 28.

About Weber State
The Wildcats are 4-9 on the season and just returned to Ogden on Monday after going 1-3 at the Crowne Plaza Philadelphia West Tournament over the weekend. WSU swept LaSalle in the opener before falling to Temple in four sets, American in three and Penn in five. The Wildcats three other victories on the season have come over fellow WAC foes Grand Canyon and Seattle U as well as UC Riverside, a team that UVU will face this weekend.

Audrey Biggs and Rebecca Fuchs lead Weber State offensively as they have 130 and 126 respective kills and nearly identical kill per set averages with 2.65 and 2.68. Katie Harvey is the top Wildcat blocker as she leads the club with a 1.11 block per set average and 41 total blocks.

Utah Valley has won the last four meeting against WSU and leads the all-time series 8-6. Two of those last four victories have come at Swenson Gym in Ogden.

Up Next for the Wolverines
UVU will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to take part in its final pre-season tournament of the year this weekend. The Wolverines will face UC Riverside, Wyoming and Air Force at the Air Force Invitational on Friday and Saturday before beginning its inaugural season of WAC play the following week.
