Wolverines Donate to Local Youth

OREM, Utah -- In honor of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Utah Valley University women's volleyball team raised and donated just over $2,000 to a local youth suffering from cancer. The money the team raised went to Jaquelle Frier, the younger sister of UVU cheerleader Jessica Frier. The team raised the money through the Digs for the Cure program in which they solicited donations for every dig the team recorded during matches in October. "Our team set a goal and did everything they could to get people to donate," UVU head volleyball coach Sam Atoa said. "It was quite moving to see what it meant to the Frier Family. They were touched by the thoughtfulness of the girls in doing something good for someone in need." The Frier family was presented with a check by sophomore Dani Robison Friday night before the team's match against Houston Baptist, which the team won in three sets.
